Breaking News: DNA Evidence Confirms Albert DeSalvo as the Boston Strangler

Loretta McLaughlin, the reporter who first connected the murders, breaks the story.

Tim DeSalvo, whose uncle Albert DeSalvo had confessed to being the internationally notorious Boston Strangler, gave police the DNA that finally confirmed DeSalvo's guilt.

Between June 14, 1962, and January 4, 1964, thirteen single women between the ages of 19 and 85 were murdered in the Boston area.

The crimes were initially attributed to Albert DeSalvo, who confessed to killing the women but later recanted his confession. He was convicted of other crimes and sentenced to life in prison, where he was murdered in 1973.

In 2013, DeSalvo's remains were exhumed, and DNA testing confirmed that he was the Boston Strangler. The results were announced today by Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley.
