Municipalities and Animal Control
Dead animals on the side of the road or in public areas that are not disrupting traffic often fall under the jurisdiction of municipal Animal Control Officers (ACOs). ACOs are responsible for enforcing animal control laws and regulations, which may include removing dead animals from public property.
Municipal Animal Inspectors
In some municipalities, Animal Inspectors are also employed. They work closely with ACOs and are responsible for investigating animal cruelty cases, enforcing animal control laws, and educating the public about responsible pet ownership.
Problem Animal Control Agents
Licensed Problem Animal Control (PAC) agents can be hired by landowners to deal with problem animals on their property. PAC agents are trained and licensed to capture and remove animals that are causing damage or posing a threat to people or property.
